ESPN Fantasy Projection: Settling in as Montreal's No. 3 defender behind Lane Hutson and Noah Dobson, Matheson saw his usage plummet a season ago. His ice time has decreased two years running, but it's his lack of production with the man advantage that is the main concern from a fantasy standpoint. Matheson racked up 28 power-play points as recently as the 2023-24 campaign. This past season? One. Matheson is always good for 150-plus blocks and he's missed a grand total of six games the past three years, so durability is on his side, but it's difficult to project him for anything more than a half dozen goals and 35 points unless the Habs' D corps is decimated by injury.
