ESPN Fantasy Projection: Fantasy owners that spent a mid first-round pick on Matthews last fall got burned on multiple fronts. He missed 22 games, the majority of which came late in the year after suffering a Grade 3 MCL tear which required surgery. As a result, Matthews finished with just 27 goals and 53 points in 60 games, both the lowest marks of his career. Of additional concern was his dip in production with the man advantage. The Toronto captain managed just a dozen power-play points after posting no fewer than 25 in any of the prior four seasons. Theoretically, Matthews is a bounce back candidate from a fantasy standpoint, but he's not going to be available at any sort of discount on draft day because he's such a huge name. There's legitimate risk here.
