News: 1 day agoDuchene wasn't seen skating at Stars' training camp Tuesday, per Robert Tiffin of NHL.com.
Spin: After reports noted that Duchene was originally supposed to miss the first few days of camp, his absence has now extended beyond the team's first two preseason games. The 35-year-old center missed a chunk of time due to an upper-body injury during the 2025-26 season, where he posted 16 goals, 45 points and 89 shots on net across 57 regular-season outings. According to Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News, head coach Glen Gulutzan stated that Duchene will resume skating Wednesday, but he will not play in the team's preseason game. Regardless, his status will be monitored closely in the coming days with the Stars' opening night set for Oct. 2 against the St. Louis Blues.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Duchene missed the better part of two months early last season with an upper-body ailment. He was again productive when healthy (16 goals, 45 points in 57 games), although far off the point-per-game pace he displayed while appearing in all 82 games the year prior. Duchene, the No. 3 overall pick way back in 2009, turned 35 years old in January. At this stage of his career, Duchene is best served playing a middle-six role while also helping out with the man advantage. He offers nothing in terms of hits or blocks, so Duchene's entire fantasy profile rests on how much offense he brings to the table. 55-60 points over the course of a full season seems like a fair projection.
