PITTSBURGH -- The Penguins have acquired defenseman Spencer Stastney from the Oilers in exchange for forward Filip Hallander.
The deal, announced Wednesday, gives the Penguins depth on the blue line.
Hallander, 26, was off to a promising start this season for Pittsburgh, scoring a goal to go with two assists in two games. The 2018 second-round draft pick has struggled to gain a foothold in the NHL, appearing in just 18 games across four seasons.
The Penguins will be Stastney's third team in less than a year. He was traded from Nashville to Edmonton in December then signed a one-year deal with the Oilers in July.
Stastney, also 26, has four goals and 15 assists in 117 career games for Edmonton and Nashville.
