Bradford v Barnsley
Bantams win on emotional day
Bradford ended their run of five matches without a win with a 1-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on a emotional day at Valley Parade. As is the custom at Bradford's last home match of the season, there was a minute's silence in memory of the 56 people who died in the Valley Parade fire 30 years ago on May 11 and wreaths were also laid in the centre circle by captains Stephen Darby and Martin Cranie.England manager Roy Hodgson and Football Association chairman Greg Dyke also attended the match to pay their respects and lay a wreath at the fire memorial outside the ground. The only goal of the match was scored in the 17th minute by striker Jon Stead, who rifled a superb right-foot volley into the far corner from Billy Knott's left-wing cross.Despite having most of the possession, Bradford could not add to their lead and Barnsley, who have now gone nine matches without a win, created few clear chances. They closest they came was when Mason Holgate fired into the side netting seven minutes from the end.
