Melbourne Victory beat Brisbane Roar to go three points clear in A-League
Melbourne Victory beat Brisbane Roar 2-1 at Lang Park to move three points clear at the top of the A-League.
Carl Valeri and Besart Berisha scored in the 17th and 22nd minutes to put Victory in charge and, although Matt McKay pulled one back early in the second half, Brisbane rarely looked like getting an equaliser.
With two rounds remaining, Victory are now firmly on course to win the Premier's Plate, and coach Kevin Muscat said afterwards: "I thought in the first half we were clinical, we were very good, we broke things up, we were ever so dangerous. It was a good performance.
"There is still a hell of a lot of work to do. If you're not at your best, any team in the competition can beat you and that is the evenness of the competition."
