Substitute Kevin Lasagna fired Carpi three points clear of the Serie A relegation zone by settling a 1-0 victory over Empoli that relegated Hellas Verona.Seventeenth-placed Carpi struggled to exploit their one-man advantage after Empoli striker Levan Mchedlidze was sent off in the 26th minute.The promoted side finally made the breakthrough when second-half replacement Lasagna turned Lorenzo Pasciuti's cross home with five minutes remaining.Carpi then lost Lorenzo Lollo to a red card but held on to take an important step away from danger.
