Colorado Rapids claim to have rejected the chance to sign Cerezo Osaka striker Diego Forlan but are refusing to rule out a move for Wolves forward Kevin Doyle.
Forlan, who joined Cerezo last January, is out of contract in the summer when his deal with the Japanese club expires.
Paul Bravo, the vice president of soccer operations and technical director of the Rapids, has revealed that the Major League Soccer side were offered the former Uruguay captain but turned down the chance to sign him.
"He was a guy that was offered up to us. I wouldn't go beyond that. Everybody gets these players thrown out," Bravo told the Denver Post.
"Diego Forlan -- did we have a conversation about him? Yes, we did. But it's probably the same conversation 10 other clubs in this league have had in that same time frame."
Doyle, meanwhile, has been linked with a move to the Rapids, with sources telling ESPN FC that club officials have contacted the player.
While Bravo remained coy on the prospect of signing Doyle, who is out of contract at Wolves in the summer, he did not rule out the possibility of bringing in the Republic of Ireland international.
"Doyle's contracted with another club, so we can't technically comment on players that are contracted with other clubs," he said.
"I can say that we are actively searching for a striker with experience."
