Barcelona have cancelled a pre-season friendly in Morocco amid and the ongoing migration crisis in Ceuta.
The LaLiga champions were due to face a local team on August 15 in Tangier as part of their pre-season preparations.
The Spanish government deployed armed forces to Ceuta, its territory on the north African coast, after thousands of migrants arrived by sea in a matter of hours on Thursday and Friday last week.
"FC Barcelona informs that the men's first team friendly match in Tangier potentially scheduled for 15 August has been ruled out," a club statement said.
"In light of the current uncertainty and circumstances, FC Barcelona considers playing the match would be inappropriate."
Ceuta mayor-president Juan Jesús Vivas told the European Parliament of his "profound sorrow" over the "irreparable tragedy" of 100 deaths that had occurred after roughly 78,000 migrants from neighbouring Morocco arrived by sea in a matter of hours.
Vivas said during the debate of the Morocco-Spain border situation in Ceuta that between 3,000 and 5,000 migrants remained in the territory.
