Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Everton at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening, as James Tarkokwski scored an injury-time equaliser for the away side.
That means that Bournemouth have now dropped five points from winning positions in their opening two games of the season, having led 1-0 last week against Manchester City, only to lose 2-1 in the end.
This was an entertaining affair right from the off, and Everton should really have been ahead in the first half, and would've been if not for an inspired Djordje Petrovic. First he made a superb one-handed save to deny Jarrad Branthwaite, and then produced an excellent one-on-one save to deny Thierno Barry.
Everton rued those missed opportunities in the final moments of the first half, as a swift Bournemouth counter-attack ended up with Evanilson finding Alex Scott on the edge of the box, and the English midfielder slotted in a neat finish into the bottom corner.
In the second half, the roles were reversed, as Bournemouth were the ones missing chances. Jordan Pickford made a superb low save to his right to deny Rayan, and then Vitaly Mykolenko made two outstanding blocks to deny Rayan and Scott, as the jeopardy in the game lingered, with the lead at just one.
The sting in the tail came through Tarkowski, as Bournemouth's familiar failings at defending corners came to the fore again. Ryan Christie and Marcus Tavernier contested for the same ball under no pressure, the ball bounced off them and into the path of Tarkowski, who blasted a low finish across Petrovic into the bottom corner, to rescue a point for Everton.
David Moyes' team now have four points in two games, while Bournemouth have one in two games.
