Manchester City striker Vivianne Miedema will miss the start of the Women's Super League (WSL) season after sustaining a knee injury in training.
The defending Women's Super League champions get their title defence started on Sunday, when they face newly-promoted Birmingham.
Dutch international Miedema made 19 league starts last season, scoring 10 times and registering five assists.

A Manchester City statement, posted on X, read: "We can confirm that Vivianne Miedema has sustained a knee injury and will miss the start of the season.
"The Dutch international picked up the issue in training, which is separate to the previous knee injuries she's experienced.
"Viv is now working hard with the club's medical staff to return to action as soon as possible.
"Everyone at City would like to wish Viv the very best in her recovery."
