Michael Carrick has said he has "decisions to make" ahead of Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie with Brighton as he tries to balance an immediate need to win games with a desire to rotate his squad.
United are looking to bounce back from Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Pressure is starting to mount on Carrick after a start to the season which has yielded two wins from five games in all competitions and four points from four games in the Premier League.
Andrey Santos, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Mason Mount, Benjamin Sesko, Shea Lacey and Karl Darlow could all come into the team to face Brighton.
But Carrick is aware that United need a positive result to steady the ship after a mixed start to the campaign.
"That's decisions that we have to make," he said.
"I think we obviously played Champions League and made changes during the week, and we changed a little bit as we've gone. That's the decision.
"It's important for us to win football matches, and it's important that we manage the squad as well and keep everyone up to speed, keep everyone ready, keep everyone part of it. But we're certainly going into Wednesday trying to win the game."
One decision Carrick will have to make is over the availability of Luke Shaw.
The England defender has missed the last two games after coming off in the 2-2 draw with Everton.

Carrick has said he will have to "manage" the 31-year-old. It's a particular problem for United's head coach with debate around whether he has a suitable back-up in his squad.
Meanwhile, Amad is yet to play this season because of injury and is working his way back to full fitness after being sidelined since November with a back problem.
"[Shaw] could possibly be fit for Brighton, but it's not clear-cut," said Carrick.
"Amad, not quite close in terms of days, but we'll see as the week progresses. And Matta's [Matthijs de Ligt] just working his way back, really, so because of the time frame and how it's been, I don't really want to put too much time frame on it."
