England were beaten 3-2 by Spain in their first game after the World Cup in what was a thrilling encounter.
Lamine Yamal gave the world champions an early lead at Wembley before goals from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane saw England go into the break ahead.
Kane missed a penalty early in the second half to make it 3-1 to England and minutes later, Spain levelled things through Álex Baena.
Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored the winner against England in the Euro 2024 final, came off the bench to condemn England to another defeat.
Here's how Thomas Tuchel's side fared at Wembley on Saturday night.
Manager rating (out of 10)
Thomas Tuchel, 7 -- His team were set up to take the game to Spain and they looked threatening on the counter attack. Two of the three Spain goals were down to individual errors and if Harry Kane scored his penalty, England would likely have won the game. Perhaps could have acted quicker to fix the wide gaps between Elliot Anderson and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Player ratings (1-10; 10 = best, 5 = average)
GK James Trafford, 6 -- Oyarzabal's chip made him look silly but couldn't have done much about the other two goals. His distribution from the back was tidy.
RB Jarell Quansah, 5 -- A decent showing defensively but provided little going forward.
CB Marc Guéhi, 4 -- His mistake led to Spain's second minute goal and he never fully recovered from it. Far from his assured self.
CB Ezri Konsa, 5 -- Never looked settled at the back. Positioning and passing were both shaky, and was completely lost for Oyarzabal's goal.
LB Nico O'Reilly, 6 -- His mistake led to Baena's equaliser but apart from that, coped well with Yamal and his delivery into the box was good.
CM Myles Lewis-Skelly, 6 -- Took some time to settle into the game but once he did, his ability to play between the lines shone. Struggled to provide the backline much protection defensively.
CM Elliot Anderson, 7 -- England's best player in the press and set the tempo with his passing. He and Lewis-Skelly left too much space between them and Spain took advantage of it repeatedly.
CAM Jude Bellingham, 8 -- More performances like this and he'll be England's Player of the Year for the third year running. Set up Gordon's goal with a beautifully weighted pass and won the penalty that Kane missed.
RW Bukayo Saka, 6 -- Movement was sharp but lacked a clinical edge. Influence waned in the second half.
ST Harry Kane, 7 -- The England captain has had better games. Got lucky with his goal and lost his footing for his missed penalty.
LW Anthony Gordon, 9 -- You can feel the confidence bursting through his veins. Scored England's opener with aplomb after a neat flick and was decisive on the ball throughout.
Substitutes (Players introduced after 70 minutes = no rating)
CM James Garner, 5 -- Struggled to find a footing in the game and badly overhit a cross from a good position late on.
RW Morgan Rogers, 5 -- Impact was limited after coming on but did put in one dangerous ball from the right that went beyond all the England shirts.
CM Dominic Calvert-Lewin -- N/A
CB Jarrad Branthwaite -- N/A
