England boss Thomas Tuchel has suggested he would be open to calling up Manchester City players should the club be relegated to the Championship next season.
City have lodged an appeal against the Independent Commission's findings that they were guilty on 114 charges of breaking the Premier League's financial rules.
The possible sanction could include a large fine, a transfer ban, a recommendation for expulsion or a points deduction so large it effectively forces their relegation.
Tuchel picked three City teammates in his latest squad -- Elliot Anderson, Marc Guéhi and Nico O'Reilly -- and when asked ahead of Saturday's Nations League trip to Croatia if he would consider picking players from the Championship, he said: "There's always a possibility.
"I think I will always try to pick the best team for the camp, for the occasion, for the tournament and I will never rule out that they don't play in the top flight in their country.
"So, you need to look at this case-by-case."
The damning verdict -- which found City inflated income by more than £900m ($1.2b billion) through "sham" contracts and a "disguised funding scheme" -- has sent shockwaves across the game and Tuchel admitted the England squad were discussing the issue.
"We had some time off and some time between the matches, and it's a big subject," said Tuchel. "But everyone speaks about it. There is no other voice needed to add to all this. So I'm glad to not be that voice. No one needs my half-knowledge on the topic.
"Of course, the players talk about it. Of course, City players talk about it, and we talk with them, but only briefly.
"They're ready to go for tomorrow. That's what they show on the pitch, and that's what they show in camp. But of course, it's a big topic. It's a big topic in camp."
England lost to Spain in their Nations League opener but recovered to beat Czechia 2-0 in Prague on Tuesday.
The winners of Saturday's game will be in a strong position to reach the quarterfinals next March and after all 23 players took part in their Friday morning session in Rijeka, Tuchel said: "We took care about fatigue in the last few training sessions.
"It has made a huge difference for us to have three days in between so that we could take care of players with high output like Elliot Anderson and Anthony Gordon for example.
"Everyone has been at training today except for Nico O'Reilly who had to leave camp to get treatment and leave as soon as possible. His discomfort was too painful and he couldn't be on the pitch. So that's the only one unavailable.
"Everyone else started and ended training today on a high level. So everyone else is ready to go."
