José Mourinho claimed he hadn't seen "any images" of an alleged elbow from Arda Güler -- which saw no intervention from the referee -- in Real Madrid's 4-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday, saying he didn't understand the "obsession" with the incident in his postmatch news conference.
Sevilla coach Luis Garcia Plaza was furious at the decision not to send off Güler for the first-half clash with Gerard 'Peque' Fernandez -- which occurred with the game tied at 0-0 -- saying his team was "denied the chance to play another game, 11 against 10."
However Mourinho suggested the discussion was an attempt by his counterpart to divert attention from the eventual 4-1 scoreline, after goals from Güler, Kylian Mbappé and Yan Diomande left Madrid six points behind leaders Barcelona heading into next weekend's Clásico.
"Nobody has been able to show me what they say happened," Mourinho said. "There aren't any images. I've asked for TV images, and for images from my staff who have the tactical camera, and I haven't been able to see any image of what's being talked about, what annoyed Luis [Garcia Plaza].
"Honestly, if one day something happens that benefits us, I'll have no problem in saying it. But I think the opposite will happen many more times, that's the tendency. I haven't seen anything. Until Saturday, if someone gets a clear and objective image to me of something I haven't seen -- and which my player says didn't happen -- I'll be there [to talk about it], but until then, nothing."
"Today we should have played with an extra man, from the 25th minute, 11 against 10," Garcia Plaza insisted. "I don't want to talk about the game after that. It's incredible. I saw it. Peque at halftime was saying 'he hit me.' It's a red card.
"Maybe we wouldn't have won, but we should have been playing 11 against 10, for 65 minutes. That's the summary of the game."
Madrid's victory at the Bernabéu allowed them to go into an important week -- with a Champions League game with RB Leipzig followed by the Clásico at Camp Nou -- with a run of three consecutive wins since the international break.
Mourinho made a number of key decisions in his team selection, bringing Güler into central midfield and starting Endrick after both impressed at Roma in midweek.
"I understand Luis [Garcia Plaza], with a team that loses 4-1," Mourinho said. "If the coach gets four or five questions about something which hasn't happened, that's fantastic for him.
"When it happened, I told [Real Madrid assistant coach] Pedro [Machado] I wanted to see it, but I couldn't see anything. Maybe there are other cameras, but until now, nothing."
"Have any of you seen it clearly?" Mourinho asked journalists. "That's why I don't understand the obsession with asking about it."
Mourinho said he also hadn't watched rivals Barcelona's 5-2 win at Real Betis a day earlier, which included a stunning Giovani Lo Celso goal for Betis being disallowed for an earlier handball.
"I swear I haven't seen it," Mourinho said. "I was watching Bayern [Munich] vs. Leipzig. After that, I heard things. But it isn't a surprise for me. It's one more day at the office."
