In the Premier League, Aston Villa kept up their recent success at home over Manchester City to win 2-1 and end City's 100% start to the season.
Defending champions Arsenal hosted Everton at the Emirates Stadium looking to go level at the top of the table and did so after a 2-0 win, while Coventry City took on Fulham at the same time, only for the visitors to end up as 1-0 winners.
Later, we wrap up the Premier League slate with a London derby, as Xabi Alonso's Chelsea took on Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge, but it was Roberto de Zerbi's team that ended up getting a rare 2-0 win.
Elsewhere, Arsenal's women beat rivals Spurs 2-1 in the WSL, Napoli hosted AS Roma in a huge Serie A showdown that saw the match end in a dramatic 3-3 draw, while Borussia Dortmund welcomed Eintracht Frankfurt to Signal Iduna Park and ended up winning 1-0.
