News: 15 hours agoIonescu signed a three-year deal with the Liberty on Friday, Richard Cohen of HerHoopStats.com reports.

Spin: Ionescu will now be under contract through 2028 after spending the first six seasons of her career in New York. Additionally, Jonquel Jones (ankle) and Breanna Stewart also signed three-year deals to return. Ionescu averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.4 minutes per game across 38 regular-season appearances in 2025.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Ionescu is coming off another strong campaign, earning All-WNBA Second Team honors and her fourth All-Star nod. She averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds and a career-high 1.3 steals across 31.4 minutes per game in 38 regular-season outings. Although the 28-year-old guard finished in the top 10 in points per game and assists per game, she also shot a career-worst 29.9 percent from three-point range on 7.1 attempts per contest. Still, Ionescu ranked 10th in eight-category settings for a second consecutive campaign and for the third time over the last four seasons. After spending the first six years of her career in New York, the Oregon product is an unrestricted free agent. She missed the 2026 Unrivaled season due to an undisclosed injury sustained during last year's WNBA playoffs, so her status will be worth monitoring ahead of training camp.
