No. 17 West Virginia women beat ISU 69-59, snap 2-game skid
AMES, Iowa -- Teana Muldrow had 27 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 17 West Virginia pulled away in the second quarter and cruised to a 69-59 victory over Iowa State on Saturday night to snap a two-game skid.
The Mountaineers (16-4, 4-4 Big 12 Conference) rebounded from a six-point loss at No. 24 Oklahoma State on Wednesday, and a 76-74 home loss to TCU on Jan. 13. Iowa State (8-11, 2-6) has lost six of its last seven games.
Muldrow was 10-of-19 shooting, and the senior forward collected her 10th double-double of the season. Chania Ray added 14 points, and Naomi Davenport had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mountaineers outscored Iowa State 20-12 in the second quarter on its way to a 36-23 halftime advantage. Muldrow finished with 13 points in the first half, and converted a 3-point play and followed it with a 3-pointer to stretch West Virginia's lead to 21 points late in the third.
Emily Durr had 15 points and Bridget Carleton chipped in 11 for the Cyclones.
