ST. PAUL, Minn. -- After more than two weeks of silence following a six-game suspension, Chicago Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo spoke to reporters following the team's morning skate ahead of a game against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday at Xcel Energy Center.
Carcillo was suspended after he cross checked Mathieu Perreault during the second period of a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 16. It was the 11th time during his nine-year NHL career that Carcillo has been fined or suspended.
"I had thoughts when it happened, but right now I'm just trying to get past it," Carcillo said. "I don't really see a point in rehashing any emotions that I had."
Perreault missed two games with an injured arm following the hit.
"You can't do what I did in the league today; there's no room for it," Carcillo said.
Carcillo said that despite his lengthy history with the league, it's not going to change the way he plays the game.
"It hasn't yet and it's not going to," he said.
When Carcillo has been in the lineup this season, he has been an effective role player, scoring four goals and three assists in 31 games, mostly on Chicago's fourth line. He was a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Wild.
"He's gotta bring an energy to the game," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "I don't think his résumé has hurt him as far as how he's competing and how he's playing. I think he sees the balance."
