News: 4 days agoThe Jets placed Cooper (ankle) on injured reserve Saturday, Amanda Vogt of the team's official site reports.
Spin: Cooper thus will miss at least the next four games after he suffered a sprained ankle in his pro debut this past Sunday in Tennessee. His next chance for game action will be a Week 6 road matchup with the Patriots on Sunday, Oct. 18, and in the meantime, the Jets will operate with a receiving corps composed of Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams and Arian Smith.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Cooper was selected by the Jets in the first round of April's draft. The Indiana product is fresh off a breakout 2025 season in which he posted a 69-937-13 receiving line after totaling 46 catches during his first three seasons with the Hoosiers. Primarily a perimeter target in limited action from 2022 to 2024, Cooper aligned in the slot on 80% of his routes last season. He is a short-area target (9.0 aDOT last season), but still posted strong efficiency numbers, including a 2.61 YPRR. He'll begin his career behind Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell in New York's Geno Smith-led offense and is unlikely to produce consistent flex value as a rookie.
