News: 4 days agoCooper brought in six of seven targets for 103 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' 26-19 loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Spin: Making his return from a four-game stint on injured reserve due to an ankle sprain suffered on the opening possession of the season, Cooper hit the ground running and finished as the team leader in receptions, receiving yards and targets. The Indiana product also recorded his first NFL touchdown on a 48-yard strike from Geno Smith early in the third quarter, and his instant production despite the layoff gives his fantasy outlook a significant boost heading into a Week 7 home matchup against the Dolphins.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Cooper was selected by the Jets in the first round of April's draft. The Indiana product is fresh off a breakout 2025 season in which he posted a 69-937-13 receiving line after totaling 46 catches during his first three seasons with the Hoosiers. Primarily a perimeter target in limited action from 2022 to 2024, Cooper aligned in the slot on 80% of his routes last season. He is a short-area target (9.0 aDOT last season), but still posted strong efficiency numbers, including a 2.61 YPRR. He'll begin his career behind Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell in New York's Geno Smith-led offense and is unlikely to produce consistent flex value as a rookie.
