TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett did not coach in Saturday night's 31-27 win over No. 5 Notre Dame after what the school called a personal health issue.
Trickett is in his eighth season coaching the offensive line for Florida State, which is ranked No. 2.
Offensive graduate assistant David Spurlock, who graduated Florida State in 2011 and played under Trickett, assumed the role of offensive line coach.
Trickett's son, West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett, threw two of his three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter Saturday night to lead the Mountaineers to an upset over No. 4 Baylor 41-27. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the younger Trickett was unaware of his father's health issue until he was told after the game. Clint Trickett was not made available after the game, but took to Twitter to express his thanks for an outpouring of support:

Another son, Travis, an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Samford University, shared his thoughts as well:
If your Father/Mother are still with you today, make sure you call them and tell them you love them.
