No. 17 Tennessee All-SEC offensive guard Wendell Moe Jr. is expected to miss the rest of the season with a lower-body injury, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.
Moe was injured during last weekend's 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas. He went to the locker room in the first half and did not return.
A fifth-year senior from California, Moe was regarded as one of the top returning offensive linemen in the SEC. He was on the Lombardi Award and Outland Trophy preseason watch lists.
Last season, he played both left and right guard and was named first-team All-SEC.
With Wendell out, Tennessee (3-1) moved starting left guard Shamurad Umarov to right guard against the Longhorns. Donovan Haslam played left guard.
The Vols, who play at home against Auburn (3-1) on Saturday, are looking to bounce back after a close loss in which the offense struggled to move the football.
Freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon threw for a season-low 145 yards passing and the running game, which had averaged more than 250 yards per game, gained just 70 yards on 44 carries.
On3 was first to report that Moe is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the year.
