UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava did not start the second half against Oregon and is doubtful to return with an injury, according to the team.
Iamaleava was seen on the broadcast standing without pads on the sideline during the second half.
On a scramble in the second quarter, Iamaleava landed awkwardly on his leg while being tackled and stayed down on the field. After being looked at by trainers, he was able to jog off the field and was replaced by Ty Dieffenbach, who is listed as the third-string quarterback on the depth chart. Iamaleava's brother, Madden, is listed as the backup.
Dieffenbach threw an incompletion and Iamaleava was then able to return to the game. On the ensuing play, Iamaleava threw an interception. It was his third turnover of the half.
When the Bruins emerged for the second half, it was Dieffenbach who was under center. The senior from Cal Poly had not seen any action all season. He threw for 1,305 yards and nine touchdowns for the Mustangs last season.
Iamaleava, who has started every game since arriving at UCLA from Tennessee, has thrown for 820 yards and four touchdowns this season.
On the other side of the field, in the second half, Oregon third-string quarterback Brock Thomas replaced Dylan Raiola after he threw his second interception of the game.
