Pitchers to stream on Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to summon Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City for a home start against the Cincinnati Reds. Over his last three starts on the farm, he has posted a 0.52 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with 24 strikeouts and just six walks over 17 1/3 innings. Sheehan squares off with an offense coming off a Sunday slugfest, but for the season, it sports the fourth-lowest wOBA and highest strikeout rate with a righty on the hill.
The Boston Red Sox caught a break avoiding Trevor Rogers in their four-game road set with the Baltimore Orioles. The lefty is on a roll, registering a 2.99 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 84 punchouts and just 15 free passes over his last 78 1/3 frames. The Cleveland Guardians aren't so fortunate as they draw Rogers on Memorial Day. He'll face a lineup with the fourth-lowest wOBA versus left-handers.
Noah Cameron is enjoying a strong second half, posting a 1.84 ERA and 0.76 WHIP over his prior 53 2/3 innings. His strikeouts were low, with only 46 over 53 2/3 innings, but he compensated with sharp control and command. That combination should continue to be successful when the Kansas City Royals host the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have struggled on the road against lefties over the past month.
Brayan Bello lines up to pitch on Labor Day, and based on his second-half performance, the Red Sox will use him in a bulk reliever capacity. He'll face the Los Angeles Angels, sporting a 2.03 ERA and 1.03 WHIP coming out of the bullpen.
Pitchers to avoid on Monday
The Reds indicated that they will be limiting Chase Burns' innings over the final three weeks of the season. He'll start to keep him in his usual routine, but the breakout righty will handle only a couple of innings before passing the baton to Brandon Williamson. Burns may still compile a handful of strikeouts, but he won't be eligible for a win or quality start.
The Minnesota Twins are expected to activate Joe Ryan from the injured list before Monday's road affair with the Detroit Tigers. Ryan has missed just over a month with a glute issue. He made one rehab start, compiling 42 pitches over three stanzas. The veteran right-hander will be on a pitch count before passing the baton to Connor Prielipp, with the rookie lefty also working with a pitch limit.
Hitters to stream on Monday
Ty France is quietly enjoying the best season of his career. He's already matched his career high with 20 homers, and there are still three weeks left to play. France is in a good spot to set a new personal best when the San Diego Padres host the Washington Nationals. France will benefit from the platoon edge on Will Dion, who has pitched well as a reliever, despite serving up six homers in 37 1/3 innings.
A pair of lefty swingers hit in prime lineup spots for the Royals, at home against the Diamondbacks, who will likely send a right-hander to the hill. If so, John Rave will lead off with Vinnie Pasquantino batting third in what portends to be favorable hitting conditions with temperatures in the 90s at Kauffman Stadium.
With only 11 games on the Labor Day docket, several fantasy teams will need a catcher. Check on Alejandro Kirk's availability with the Toronto Blue Jays visiting the Athletics. The conditions will be favorable for the cleanup hitter as he holds the platoon edge on lefty Jacob Lopez.
