Outfielder Jason Kubel has reached agreement on a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins, the team confirmed Friday.
The deal includes an invitation to the team's major league spring training camp.
Kubel, 31, broke into pro ball as a 12th-round draft pick with Minnesota in 2000. He signed with Arizona as a free agent in December 2011 and hit 30 homers and drove in 90 runs in 2012.
But Kubel slumped to .220 with five homers in 89 games last season, and the Diamondbacks traded him to Cleveland in August. He became a free agent when the Indians declined to exercise a club option on him in early November.
He has 139 home runs and 551 RBIs in his nine-year career.
