Struggling Blue Jays reliever Miguel Castro was demoted to Triple-A on Sunday after Toronto's 10-7 loss to the Cleveland Indians.
The rookie right-hander, who has a team-high four saves, allowed two runs in 1 1/3 innings in a mop-up role Sunday. He has a 10.13 ERA with two losses and two blown saves over his past seven appearances.
Castro had replaced Brett Cecil as the team's closer last month, only to cede the job back to Cecil after his recent struggles.
Castro and fellow right-hander Scott Copeland were optioned to Triple-A Buffalo, and right-handers Steve Delabar and Chad Jenkins were called up.
The Blue Jays blew a 6-1 lead Sunday and are in last place in the AL East with a 12-14 record.
