Major League Baseball pulled game-used and autographed items of Jose Fernandez from its online auctions Monday, including an auction for Fernandez's final game jersey.
The jersey, which was from his last start on Tuesday versus the Washington Nationals, had been put up for online auction on MLB.com on Thursday and was scheduled to close on Oct. 2.
Bidding for the jersey had reached $10,581 on 47 bids before the auction was shut down Monday morning.
MLB spokesman Matt Bourne said league officials took down the auction of the items as the Miami Marlins continue to grieve for their fallen star.
Fernandez was killed in a boating accident in the early morning hours on Sunday.
Bourne said the league has decided that Fernandez jerseys will still be sold. The league's portion of its royalty will be donated to a yet-to-be-determined charity.
