Former All-Star outfielder Carlos Lee has retired from baseball, ending a 14-year career in the major leagues.
Lee announced the decision on Thursday, his 37th birthday.
According to The Associated Press, Lee was looking for a two-year offer but failed to receive one, leading to his decision to call it quits.
Lee began his major league career in 1999 for the Chicago White Sox, and also played for the Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Texas Rangers and Miami Marlins.
He made the All-Star team from 2005-07. He also was a two-time Silver Slugger winner (2005, '07).
A power hitter, Lee finished with a career 358 home runs, including a career-high 37 in 2006, when he split time between the Brewers and Rangers.
Lee never struck out more than 100 times in a season.
