TAMPA, Fla. -- Buccaneers fullback Jorvorskie Lane has been suspended for two games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Wednesday.
Lane said in a statement that he purchased an over-the-counter medication to help with weight loss, and without his knowledge, it contained a banned substance.
Lane has been Tampa Bay's only fullback, but the Bucs use that position sparingly. He was on the field for only five snaps in Sunday's loss to Baltimore.
The team is on its bye week and is likely to promote Lonnie Pryor from the practice squad to handle fullback duties. Lane will be eligible to return to the team after the Nov. 2 game against Cleveland.
In other news, the Bucs announced they have signed cornerback Isaiah Frey.
Frey, a sixth-round pick in 2012 who played nickelback and appeared in all 16 games for the Chicago Bears in 2013, appeared in three games for Chicago this season before being released.
