LANDOVER, Md. -- Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams left in the first quarter of Sunday's 27-7 loss to Tampa Bay with what were later diagnosed as sprains to the MCL and ankle in his right leg.
An MRI on Williams' knee is scheduled for Monday.
Williams was in pass protection when former college teammate Gerald McCoy was blocked into the back of his legs, causing him to go down in pain. Williams was eventually helped off the field by teammates and was unable to put much pressure on his right leg. Williams, a two-time Pro Bowl performer, dislocated his right kneecap in Week 4, though he never missed time.
Rookie tackle Morgan Moses, a third-round pick, replaced Williams in the lineup. Moses has played sparingly this season, but that could change if Williams must miss any time. The Redskins also have veteran tackle Tyler Polumbus, though he recently lost his starting job on the right side to Tom Compton.
