KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Seattle Seahawks backup wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, a gunner on punt coverage, was ejected from the game in the third quarter when he punched Chiefs safety Kurt Coleman on the sidelines at the end of a Chiefs' punt return by De'Anthony Thomas.
Coleman shoved Lockette after the play ended before Lockette threw a punch to Coleman's face and into his face mask. Thomas had returned the punt 40 yards to the Seattle 40.
However, the altercation never would have happened if officials had initially seen that Thomas stepped out of bounds back at the Kansas City 29. The Seahawks challenged the play, which showed Thomas stepped out. That would have ended the play before the incident.
