PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles officially made roster moves to deal with injuries from Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Kicker Cody Parkey and right guard Andrew Gardner were placed on injured reserve, ending their 2015 seasons.
To take their roster spots, the Eagles signed former Miami Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis and offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde. It is Vandervelde's third time with the team.
Parkey, who made the Pro Bowl last season as a rookie, injured his groin during the preseason. He reinjured it during pregame warm-ups Sunday. Although Parkey was able to get through the game, the decision was made to shut him down for the rest of the season.
Gardner's injury is a Lisfranc sprain of his right foot. He left Sunday's game in the first half. Gardner was graded as the Eagles' best offensive lineman in the running game by Pro Football Focus.
Matt Tobin, who replaced Gardner on Sunday, likely will step up to the starting right guard position. He is also the Eagles' primary backup at tackle, so an injury to either Jason Peters or Lane Johnson could cause a further shuffling of the line.
Sturgis, 26, was a fifth-round pick of the Dolphins in 2013. After two seasons as the Dolphins' kicker, Sturgis was released earlier this month. Andrew Franks won the kicking job in training camp.
Vandervelde was drafted by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2011 draft. He has been a backup guard and center with the team. Last season, he was released, then re-signed when center Jason Kelce was injured. Vandervelde was cut at the end of training camp this year, brought back due to an injury to center David Molk, released again and now re-signed.
