Exeter v Luton
Luton pay the penalty
Tom Nichols came off the bench to snatch a deserved point for Exeter in their 1-1 draw with Luton. The Hatters made the best possible start with a goal inside three minutes. Andy Drury picked out Scott Griffiths at the back post with a well-flighted corner, and he thumped a header past Christy Pym in the Exeter goal.Luton were happy to sit on their lead for the remainder of the first half and let Exeter have the ball but the Grecians struggled to penetrate a well-drilled Hatters backline. They did create some chances with Graham Cummins thwarted by Mark Tyler's save and Scot Bennett seeing a shot deflect narrowly wide.Tyler made an even better save to deny Cummins in the second half, while substitute Liam Sercombe lashed a long-ranger wide of the post as Exeter pressed for an equaliser.Drury was denied by Pym at the other end before Exeter levelled on 72 minutes when Christian Ribeiro was fouled in the box by Griffiths and Nichols, who had only been on the pitch for three minutes, scored from the spot.Nichols could have won it late on for Exeter but shot into the side-netting.
