Portland v San Jose
Jack Jewsbury nets stoppage time winner as the Portland beat San Jose
Jack Jewsbury scored in second-half stoppage time to give the Portland Timbers a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday night.
San Jose was unable to clear a free kick in its area, which gave Jewsbury the chance run in and make a jumping shot, floating the ball over Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham and into the net for his second goal of the season.
Portland thought it took the lead in the 87th minute, when substitute Gaston Fernandez headed in a cross from Alvas Powell, but the Timbers' forward was ruled offside and the goal was waved off.
Portland took 23 shots but Bingham only needed to make six saves.
At the other end of the field, Portland's Adam Kwarasey needed only one save for his eighth shutout.
Portland has now won six of its last seven MLS matches. San Jose snapped a two-game winning streak.
