Tottenham Hotspur are off the mark for the 2026-27 season after playing out a rather dull 0-0 draw away at Nottingham Forest.
The major talking point of the match came late in the second half when some comical defending from Spurs (Sandro Tonali in the main) saw Neco Williams bundle home a Morgan Gibbs-White chip into the net, but on VAR intervention, the goal was ruled out because Williams had handled it just after getting his head to the ball as Tonali messed up his second attempt to clear off the line.
Daniel Munoz was a livewire after coming on for his Forest debut at the hour mark, while fellow summer signing Liam Delap (who started his first match for the home side) was largely disappointing. Spurs were better organised than they had shown in the first couple of games this season, and Omar Marmoush was guilty of missing a big chance in the first half when Pedro Porro sent him through one-on-one with the keeper and he shot wide. Savio sparkled on occasion but was too predictable in his efforts to make a dent on the scoreboard.
Mykhailo Mudryk made his first appearance in two years off the bench, but that came too late to materially impact proceedings. Spurs now have one point from three matches this season, Forest have two - as both sides continue to search for that one performance that could help them click into gear.
