Jan Paul van Hecke suffered a foot injury during the Netherlands' match against Serbia and will return to Tottenham.
The defender -- who joined Spurs from Brighton for £52 million ($70 million) in the summer -- has become an important player in Roberto De Zerbi's team, starting six out of Tottenham's first seven games in all competitions at the beginning of this season.
The 26-year-old is one of four Netherlands players to withdraw from international duty, with the others being Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, Sunderland's Brian Brobbey and PSV's Lutsharel Geertruida. Only Joshua Zirkzee was called up, as a replacement for the Sunderland striker.
The Netherlands currently sit in second place of Group A2 in the Nations League after they followed up their 1-1 draw with Germany with 2-1 win over Serbia.
Xavi Hernández's side have the chance to enter the final matchweek of this international break in top spot if they beat Greece -- who surprised Jürgen Klopp's Germany last week with a 1-0 win -- on Thursday.

Following van Hecke's withdrawal, the Netherlands will travel to Thessaloniki with a 23-player squad. On Sunday, the Netherlands will conclude their international break against Serbia in Eindhoven.
Spurs -- who are bottom of the Premier League -- face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday Oct. 10.
