The Washington Redskins feared the worst after Thursday's game. A day later, those fears were confirmed: second-year running back Silas Redd indeed tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee and will miss the season, a source said.
Redd injured his knee while being tackled in the Redskins' 20-17 win over the Cleveland Browns on Thursday. He was the second player to be lost for the season in that game, joining tight end Niles Paul. But it's uncertain what role Redd would have played this season, if any. If he had made the roster, he would have been a third or fourth running back. There was no guarantee he was going to make it, however.
Redd made the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
Meanwhile, the Redskins waived linebacker Trevardo Williams with an injury designation. They signed linebacker Sage Harold. The waived/injured designation means Williams will be subjected to waivers and if he goes unclaimed, the Redskins can either put him on injured reserve or release him with a settlement.
