RICHMOND, Va. -- The Redskins took off the shells under their jerseys midway through practice and won't go in pads Sunday -- and perhaps not again Monday or Tuesday. It wasn't a nod to the growing injury list, but now that the preseason games have started it could help keep them a little healthier.
Here's a look at their injury list:
TE Jordan Reed: He said he hopes to return soon from a hamstring injury and has not yet ruled out playing vs. Detroit. Reed said he hurt it on the last day of work vs. Houston and said it was just "wear and tear from camp. Nothing major, just being cautious."
TE Logan Paulsen: Will have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his toe and miss the season.
RB Silas Redd: Will have surgery to repair a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee and miss the season.
WR DeSean Jackson: Still sidelined with a sprained shoulder. Likely to return for the third preseason game.
CB David Amerson: Returned to practice after missing time with a sprained shoulder, but did not participate in full-team work.
S Jeron Johnson: Returned to practice after being sidelined since Aug. 1 with a hamstring injury, but did not participate in full-team work.
LB Perry Riley: Aggravated his wrist and sat out practice Saturday. Coach Jay Gruden said it was a little swollen, but that he'll be OK.
DE Frank Kearse: Aggravated his shoulder and is considered day-to-day.
LT Trent Williams: Sat out practice with what Gruden described as a "knee issue." Gruden said he probably could have practiced, but the coaches held him out.
