Free-agent offensive lineman Eben Britton has been suspended for the first four games of the 2015 NFL season, a league spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.
The league did not specify the policy Britton violated.
Britton, 28, played last season for the Chicago Bears and appeared in 10 games.
A six-year veteran, Britton has started in 34 of 60 career games with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2009-12) and Bears (2013-14). Britton has started 23 games at right tackle, seven at left guard and four as a sixth eligible lineman.
He played in 23 games in two seasons with the Bears, and started four when Chicago lined up with an extra offensive lineman.
A former second-round pick, Britton was among the club's final cuts in 2014 as it put together the 53-man roster coming out of training camp, but the Bears brought him back in September to bolster depth up front.
