PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles will continue to "lean into" the tush push in their new offense, according to offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
"It's going to be a part of what we do. It's been an extremely effective play here," Mannion said Saturday. "We're going to lean into that. It's something this organization has executed at a high level. So along with many other elements to our offense, certainly, it's something that will be a part of it."
There has been a lot of change on the offensive side of the ball for the Eagles this offseason. They fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and hired Mannion, the former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach who is implementing an under-center, play-action-heavy system influenced by the likes of Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay.
Philadelphia also parted ways with longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland -- a key figure in the tush push implementation -- and replaced him with Chris Kuper, the former Minnesota Vikings offensive line coach who has more experience with this style of offense.
The Eagles have enjoyed tremendous success running the QB sneak play, which features one or more players shoving the quarterback forward for extra momentum on short-yardage situations. Entering last season, Philadelphia converted the play 96.6% of the time in fourth-and-1 scenarios since 2022.
The play became a point of controversy and debate. The Packers led a charge to ban it in the 2025 offseason, but the proposal fell short by two votes.
The Eagles continued to lead the league in tush push attempts last season (27), but the success rate dipped, due to both improved defensive efforts and injuries to their offensive line.
There were no proposals to ban the play this past offseason.
