Philadelphia Eagles running back Ja'Quinden Jackson left the field by ambulance after being injured on the opening kickoff in Saturday's preseason game against the host New England Patriots.
Jackson had strength and movement in all extremities, the team announced, adding that he was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. According to his agent, Damien Butler, a CT scan came back negative and Butler was "awake and alert."
Jackson was released from the hospital and joined his teammates for their return trip Saturday night to Philadelphia.
"Tonight, above all else, we thank God that Ja'Quinden is doing well following an incredibly frightening moment during the game," Butler said in a statement obtained by ESPN. "We are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles' medical staff and the first responders whose swift actions and exceptional care supported Ja'Quinden during this critical moment."
Jackson was injured as his head appeared to collide with Lan Larison's leg while making a tackle on the opening kickoff. He stayed on the ground for several minutes before being stretchered into an ambulance as his concerned teammates looked on. Jackson offered a thumbs up before being driven away.
The 24-year-old Jackson was signed by the Eagles on Aug. 10. The Arkansas product spent last season on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad.
