Carolina Panthers starting left guard Damien Lewis will be sidelined a few weeks with an ulnar collateral ligament injury in an elbow, sources told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.
A source classified Lewis' UCL injury as a tear to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Medical evaluations of Lewis' injury are ongoing.
Lewis will miss at least the Panthers' game Sunday night against the Detroit Lions.
The Panthers have a bye in Week 5, so there's a chance he might miss only one game.
Lewis was injured in the first half of Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Cleveland Browns, but he returned in the third quarter to finish out the game.
Lewis has been one of the Panthers' highest-performing offensive linemen through three games, while left tackle Rasheed Walker, a free agent who was signed to a one-year deal in March, has had a challenging time in his three games played. Rookie Monroe Freeling has been manning the right-hand side.
The Panthers are dealing with several injuries, as top cornerback Jaycee Horn is out indefinitely after suffering a torn quad in Week 3's loss to the Browns. Longtime starting tackles Taylor Moton (blood clot) and Ikem Ekwonu (patellar tendon) are eligible to return from the non-football injury list and physically unable to perform list, respectively, following the bye.
ESPN's Mike Kaye contributed to this report.
