Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a high right ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks in Seattle, coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday.
Harbaugh said the team is still evaluating whether to place Slater on injured reserve, which would keep him out a minimum of four games.
The two-time Pro Bowl tackle was hurt in the fourth quarter of the Chargers' 30-23 loss. After the game, he had a walking boot on his right foot and was using crutches.
Slater, who is in the first year of a four-year, $114 million extension he signed in July 2025, missed all of last season after rupturing the patellar tendon in his left knee in training camp.
Through four weeks this year, he ranked as the league's eighth-worst tackle in pass block win rate (75.3%), according to ESPN Analytics/Next Gen Stats. In Sunday's loss, he had a team-low one pressure allowed.
Slater was among a lengthy list of Chargers players who were hurt Sunday as the team dropped to 0-4. Left guard Trevor Penning exited because of a head injury, right tackle Joe Alt because of a neck injury and wide receiver Ladd McConkey because of a foot injury.
Harbaugh said Penning is in concussion protocol and McConkey is day-to-day. The team is still evaluating Alt, the coach said.
During the final two drives against Seattle, the Chargers trotted out an offensive line with four rookies -- Travis Burke, Jacob Spomer, Jake Slaughter, Logan Taylor -- to go with veteran Cole Strange. By that point, the Chargers didn't have any other linemen in uniform.
Harbaugh said the group that finished the game would be the starting unit moving forward, but he was noncommittal on whether the players would remain in the positions they played Sunday.
In the end, it was the offensive line's worst day of the season. According to ESPN Analytics/Next Gen Stats, the Chargers' pass block win rate was 13%, their lowest in ESPN's 10-year dataset. Justin Herbert was sacked four times and pressured 22 times (55% of his dropbacks), according to Next Gen Stats.
