Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was put on injured reserve Tuesday and will be out at least a week after he suffered a fractured finger during practice Monday.
Curtis McElhinney will get the start in goal against Ottawa on Tuesday night. Anton Forsberg was added on emergency recall from the team's AHL affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts
Bobrovsky suffered a fractured finger when he was struck by a puck in practice. The 2013 Vezina Trophy winner is 4-4-0 with a 2.81 goals-against average and .908 save percentage in eight games this season.
The Jackets also may be without forward Nick Foligno, who left on a stretcher during Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Kings after he was checked along the boards into the elbow of linesman Shane Heyer.
An MRI on Monday came back negative on Foligno, who is third on the team with nine points. He has not ruled himself out for this game.
"My spinal cord looks good and there are no fractures," he said. "Now it's just making sure that the stiffness goes away, and that's the worst part right now."
"Being .500 is mediocre, it's average. We have injuries, but it's no excuse. We have to find solutions," coach Todd Richards told the Blue Jackets' official website. "As a coach, I need to be better and players playing need to be better. We need to find a way to win games. There's a way to win the game tomorrow and we need to find it."
