TEMPE, Ariz. -- When it comes to receiving compensatory draft picks, the Arizona Cardinals haven't found much success since 1994.
In the last 21 drafts, the Cardinals have had only 16 compensatory picks. Eight teams have had fewer during that stretch. Compensatory picks are rewarded through a formula that places a value on the unrestricted free agents a team loses versus the unrestricted free agents a team signs.
In 2014, the Cardinals lost UFAs Andre Roberts, Jim Dray, Eric Winston, Karlos Dansby, Antoine Cason and Javier Arenas. But they signed Jared Veldheer, Jonathan Dwyer, Ted Larsen and Ted Ginn.
Among Arizona's 16 compensatory picks, there's one that's most famous: Pat Tillman. The former Cardinals' defensive back who was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.
