TEMPE, Ariz. -- It took until the last day of the Arizona Cardinals' organized team activities but tempers finally flared during 11-on-11 work Thursday.
A brief scuffle broke out between rookie tackle D.J. Humphries and veteran linebacker LaMarr Woodley. It lasted just a few seconds before teammates broke it up and prevented it from escalating.
"Two new guys that don't know the rules," Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said. "But they'll find out real quick."
No punches thrown just "a lot of jersey pulling," he said.
"It was WWE," Arians said.
The scuffle came on the final day of what Arians called an "outstanding" OTAs, added all three phases "got a lot accomplished."
"We're finding out more and more about the young guys," Arians said. "We've got a group of young guys that I think can help us. The best thing about it was great competition every single day. Our guys know how to practice. It was evident in the time frame we were out here and how many reps we got in."
Larry Fitzgerald was not in attendance at Thursday's voluntary OTA.
Seven Cardinals missed Thursday's practice, as well: cornerback Darren Woodard, running back Stepfan Taylor, running back Kerwynn Williams, linebacker Markus Golden, linebacker Shaq Riddick, linebacker Alani Fua and linebacker Zack Wagenmann. They were on the sideline, either on a stationary bike or working with a trainer at times.
Arians said cornerback Jimmy Legree reported to OTAs "bigger" and "thicker" this year and said "he's got a good chance" at making the roster.
Quarterback Carson Palmer was under center for two plays during a very slow paced 11-on-11 drill that appeared to focus on the Hail Mary. There wasn't a rush so Palmer didn't need to worry about defenders flying around his knees.
An interception bounced off of Justin Bethel's hands during 11-on-11 drills, igniting a loud response from the defensive backs.
Kareem Martin looked fast and powerful coming off the edge as an outside linebacker.
