TEMPE, Ariz. -- It took him a few carries to get warmed up but Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson showed he’s healthy during the first half of Thursday's preseason finale.
Johnson, who coach Bruce Arians would get between 10 and 12 carries, started the game and finished with 11 carries for 45 yards. He averaged 4.1 yards per carry. Last season, Arizona averaged 3.3 as a team.
He also had one reception for 10 yards.
Johnson had six yards on three carries during Arizona’s first drive, and didn’t break a big run until the Cardinals’ fourth drive. On third-and-10 from the Cardinals 20 he ripped off a 16-yard run. He also had an eight-yard run, as well.
In pass protection, Johnson struggled on one play that led to a sack of quarterback Phillip Sims. Johnson had a good initial hit but it left him out of position and the Broncos defender got to Sims.
