FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn officially ruled out rookie running back Tevin Coleman, wide receiver/return specialist Devin Hester, and outside linebacker Brooks Reed for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Coleman is expected to be out at least two weeks after fracturing a rib against the New York Giants last Sunday. Hester missed the first two games with turf toe in his right foot, an injury that could take four weeks to fully heal. And Reed just returned to action this week following preseason groin surgery. It was his third such procedure.
Wide receiver Julio Jones, who was limited this week with hamstring soreness, is listed a probable, as are linebacker Paul Worrilow (calf), linebacker Justin (foot), defensive end Malliciah Goodman (triceps), nose tackle Paul Soliai (knee), and defensive end Kroy Biermann (personal matter).
Hester and Coleman sat out Friday's practice, while Reed did work on a side field.
"He brings toughness, he brings an attitude that we love about how he plays and his style,'' Quinn said of Reed.
If Reed returns next week, he would face his former team, the Houston Texans, next Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
