OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens' depth at guard was tested Thursday, when three interior linemen were sidelined for the full contact practice. With starting left guard Kelechi Osemele being held out, backup guards John Urschel and Robert Myers both left the field in the first 90 minutes of practice with head injuries.
Urschel, who was working with the first team, went down face first into the turf, and concerned teammates took a knee around him. Trainers eventually turned him over, and Urschel declined to take the cart that was brought out. He walked off the field with the help of a trainer. Myers, a rookie fifth-round pick, got injured about a half hour later and left the field.
That forced Ryan Jensen to line up at left guard with the first-team offense.
"John Urschel and Robert Myers both banged heads," coach John Harbaugh said. "Those are the concussion things that we'll be looking at. I don't where they stand but I think we're going to be very cautious with those guys to make sure they get that right."
Osemele didn't practice for precautionary reasons. He got stepped on during Thursday's practice, and Harbaugh said he doesn't think it's serious.
"I decided because of the nature of the practice just to keep him out of it," Harbaugh said. "There's going to be a lot of feet stepped on today. It was my decision."
